Heading Up the Amazon - January 11, 2024 - Day 9 - 12,427 Steps

Another addition to the Title starting with today's post. With the voyage being 128 days in length, I've added the number of days we have been on the Zuiderdam.

This morning's map shows us on the Amazon moored at a resupply stop.

Definitely a light breakfast this morning. During the night Montezuma flicked a finger at Linda giving her a very mild case of you can guess what. She requested a banana and a bowl of applesauce and rice to "tighten things up" down there for her breakfast which I brought back to the room for her. I'm writing this in the late afternoon and solidarity has now pushed Montezuma aside. How's that for writing about a rather indelicate subject. And I was also careful to avoid using any run-on sentences. Considerate Bob.

No dams turning the river in a series of lakes like in the US, it's just so huge it looks like a lake.

Where the ship's sidewalk begins and ends and goes round and round.

It varies in width and use at different points around the ship.

Those that know what a browsing line is know, for those that don't (including yours truly) it is: An integral part of LSA MES are the browsing lines which help keep the deployed MES in the optimum position regardless of ship motion and sea conditions. So now we all know, thanks to me go good at googling. Brilliant Bob.

Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe tonight's entertainers?

Every time we look out from our verandah we say, "Wow, look at that."

Storm in the distance. There are storms all around us, but not over us.

When the sun is just right!

Bert photographing the rainbow.

My photo of the rainbow.

Cruising closer to shore.

There were hardly any dwellings to be seen along the river bank.

What was consistently seen were the storms, though virtually all of them were never over the ship.

To give a different perspective as to what this initial entry onto the Amazon was like, below are four videos showing the view at different times from our verandah.
