Around the World in 128 Days - At Sea in the Laccadive Sea

Image
Travel Day 86 - March 29, 2024 - 3,317 Steps They have sriracha sauce once again so I stepped back in time for my breakfast this morning.  An entire day at sea and this early morning ship was the only one either of us saw all day. Ship's position this morning as we head toward the Maldives. Linda was in a dangerous position, what the leg kicks  that were going on in front of her. It was Bridge Experts at Kim's interview. To put it nicely, one had a massive ego. Our port of call for the next two days. The next blog will reveal whether we get to see something like this or not. Lunch. The top row was Linda's, bottom row her husband's. Harmonica virtuoso, videos below.

Around the World in 128 Days - Sri Lanka

Travel Day 85 - March 28, 2024 - 4,535 Steps Entering the harbor at Columbo, Sri Lanka. An apt name for a tgboat. We were mooring at a container dock so the buses were parked very close to the ship. Seen all around the world. Tuk tuks are quite common and we quickly learned that the lines that mark the traffic lanes in Columbo are only suggestions as to where vehicles should travel. It's a wonder the laundry ever dries, as the air virtually drips water. Tuk tuk parking. With over 90% of the population being either Buddhist, Hindu or Moslem, shrines abound. It's a cultural and economic jumble. Today's excursion, another cooking experience. I'll jump ahead and say everyone of these dishes that we helped cook looked wonderful and tasted fantastic. The ingredients varied from table to table, some being the same, some completely different. Black pepper just as it was picked, still on the stem. The hot peppers were so hot the assistant at our table used a towel to hold them

Travel Day 84 - March 27, 2024 - 5,201 Steps I like the view of the sun partially hidden by the clouds. Gloomy weather, but today we saw more ships than yesterday. Vegetarian Bob's breakfast. A couple of different looking ships. Kim's guest this morning was one of the fitness instructors. It always interesting to hear them talk about the convoluted path they took to reach what the are currently doing. Lauren's talk was on trees. I've posted a number of excerpts from her talk in video form below. Really interesting stuff, none of which I knew. Linda had craft class, so I stopped by to get a photo. The end result, a very pretty card. And we end the day with more ships.

Travel Day 83 - March 26, 2024 - 5,762 Steps Another excellent Linda sea day. And when the Captain made his noon announcements he mentioned the seas would remain like this during this week. Happy Linda. We will be heading west for the next several days towards Sri Lanka and our next stop. Not much in the way of traffic on the high seas today. Poor Linda. She felt a twinge in her foot during the night and this morning her foot hurt. The good news is that while I was getting the images ready for this post, a very loud crunch was heard in our cabin, with Linds exclaiming, "That was my foot!" And with that her foot pain had vanished. Bob's now on a diet, at least for breakfast and lunch today. That seafood salad was awesome, as was the lentil salad as always, it being one of my must have every time they serve it. Lauren's talk today was on sharks. These are actual sharks. As she pointed out, if the book and movie Jaws had been about these sharks, people like sharks rathe
