Travel Day 118 - April 30, 2024 - 8,658 Steps


She was NOT sleeping, just reading as she waited for the start of Kim's interview. I dodged a major bullet with that disclaimer. Smart Bob.


David has been one of the, if not the best speaker during the cruise, though Lauren was just as good as him. David's forte is history, or I should say bringing history alive.


Another excellent read. She has disclaimers in the front of the book because it is more adult themed, but nothing like some realism to make a story interesting. The dichotomy of the booking being about an author who writes Hallmark Channel type goody two shoes romance screenplays

I've checked out Lord Byron on Project Gutenberg and he's definitely a person who we know little about in the US, but who left a huge impact on the world.


Duncan  has great stories about history, but unfortunately has the most boring monotone style of presentation that he can actually put me to sleep at times.

The day's movie, the first one we have watched during the trip, and was it ever good. Can't wait to get home and read the book, thanks to Morgan and Lindsey giving to me at Christmas.


There were a number of dolphins to be seen through this window which we enjoyed watching until I started to take this phot, at which moment they all vanished.



The rack of lamb ribs was so good I had to go back for a second helping. Absolutely positively perfectly done, it simply doesn't get better than this. And as I write this I wish I had gone back for a third helping, they were that good.

With our luggage taken away last night we didn't have much to pack this morning, just a few items to go into our day packs. The view from outside on our balcony showed we were docked at the pier in Punta Arenas beside another Antarctic expedition ship, The Megellan Explorer. Baggage being loaded for transport to the airport where it will be checked for us, meaning we will just have to pick it up at baggage claim when we arrived at the airport in Santiago. Breakfast was served early, though it didn't matter for us as we were in the last group to depart the ship which would be at 10 o'clock. Linda knew how to pass the time as she waited from 8 o'clock when we had to vacate our room until we left the ship two hours later. I took advantage of the time to write another blog post, having uploaded the photos during the night. Wind and Waves at Sea - January 18, 2024 - World Voyage Day 16 - 8051 Steps

  As the Captain put it during his daily noon update today: It's an ocean in motion day. The wind means waves, but we knew that in the night as were occasionally not so gently rocked awaked. Mornings light brought it to sight. Something different again to start the day. I know I have never had this combination for breakfast. Yogurt, granola and blueberries - yes, but with oat milk added - never. The raw materials for today's Oi Brazil craft project.  This sample was provided to give all the craftwomen and the craftman a starting idea as to what to make. Linda's handiwork compliments her perfectly. The ocean can be many things. At this moment to me it was such a lovely thing. Holland America's distinctive stacks. The six starboard side Starlink antennas atop their mounting poles. There are six more over on the port side.  Closeup Artwork is everywhere. Around the World in 128 days -An "Ask the Captain" Day at Sea

Travel Day 95 - April 7, 2024 - 9,101 Steps Jose was working at his new room service position early this morning. They have this information sign at the breakfast bar the muesli is at which touts the wonders of chia pudding. Tried a spoonful on my bowl of muesli this morning. I'll be adding it to my bowl from now on.  At breakfast Linda comment the sea is sparkling like it is covered with diamonds. Back at the room and out on the verandah I attempted to capture that look, rather poorly though. These Booby's were flying around the ship this morning. It made me remember just how hard it is to take a photo of a bird in flight. Linda was doing her usual 9:00 think on sea days, watching another of Kim's interesting interviews.
