Around the World in 128 days - A Sea Day with a WOW Sunrise, Scotch and Great Music
Travel Day 41 - February 13, 2024 - 11,029 Steps
It was truly a WOW sunrise this morning with a bright red sky and Venus above.
It isn't easy taking a photo in low light on a ship that is rocking.
A short video just after the sun came up.
The more I use the new camera, the better I get at framing shots. Did make one beginner mistake this morning in that with my haste to take photos as soon as I set foot on the outside deck, I forgot to use the high shutter speed setting so though the birds were more often than not in the shot, they were blurry so into the digital trash can they went. Bad Bob.
It's amazing just how much the ship rocks even in what now seems like relatively calm seas.
Besides being flavorful, it's also an excuse to get in some walking since it is in the very front of the ship.
At the bow of the ship is also the World Stage where many of the presentations are held. Here is an excerpt for one about octopus and squid dealing with the octopus and how it can easily escape from places.
Speaking of flavorful, one of the shops onboard hosted a Johnnie Walker scotch tasting this evening. Had never tasted the Double Black or Gold Label Reserve. They were good, but my taste runs towards the peaty, so they won't be seeing me buy any.
A pair of brothers who perform songs by the Everly Brothers were a big hit with the audience. And Linda and I as well tonight. They sang songs in chorological order of their release following the lives of Don and Phil through their sometimes tumultuous years together.
Hard to believe these two were from the UK as they gave a reasonably good imitation of the brothers sound, But when the talked about the songs they were about to sing that British accent definitely came out.
Here's that British accent.
When they sing they sounds like a couple of famous brothers from Tennessee.
The were really quite good and hopefully they will be back on stage again soon.
The new piano duo is also great. They mentioned they had worked together several times in the past and the chemistry between them comes to the fore during their performances.
Easy to guess who's song George was singing.
And Lena was joining right in. They're going to be a nightly must watch for us.
