Around the World in 128 Days -A Salt and Bricks Excursion from Manzanillo

Travel Day 27 - January 29, 2024 - 6418 Steps

They say that catching up is hard to do
Now, I know, I know that it's true!
But I won't say never again!
Instead of catching up, I hope never fall behind again.

A quick trim job on the verandah to start the day.

The bad weather of recent caused the railing and glass to be coated with salt. Patrick made shine again.

Sea birds at rest and at work.

Due to the timing of when the day's excursion we were on was leaving, it had to be a quick lunch from which ever serving station had the shortest line. The veggie pizza and bowtie pasta seafood salad made for a delicious meal. Sometimes you get lucky.

Unfortunately the bus had to leave before I could see if he was going for gasoline, or if the containers were already full of something else.

Salt making operation using small evaporation ponds.

Shoveling salt isn't easy.

Larger salt crystal, or I think that is what you call it.

Little old salt maker at work.

Scraping salt is easy. For a few seconds.

Attractive young salt maker at work. (Hopefully that will get me back in her good graces.)

Bird photographs by Linda. I trust all this bird photography she was pursuing today is a passing fancy.

Papaya tree.

A couple of roadside views from our bus.

First thing she did at the brickworks where the make bricks from mud. Wonder if she liked to play in the mud when she was young?

Guess that answers the question. I have to say she is very proud of that miniature brick which now resides in our cabin aboard the ship.

Fresh made bricks drying in the sun.

He's been doing this for 25 years! Talk about back breaking labor.

Thousands of years from now a future archeologist may discover a brick with her fingerprints on it. If so, I'm sure lucky to be married to such a ...!

All that playing in the mud made for a thirsty girl.

Gulp, gulp, glug. glug, oh what a woman she is.

Even Frigate Birds have rest sometime. These two were perched on the light pole below or cabin.
