Around the World in 128 Days - At Sea Heading to Tokyo

Travel Day 54 - February 26, 2024 - 14,056 Steps

Quite rough seas today, though this image doesn't really show it.

In action it looks like it actually did.

Doesn't that breakfast look good! Scrambled eggs, baked beans and siracha sauce all mixed together. I'm getting good at this dieting thing as every day I seem to eat less. Not show is how much i left on the plate when i stopped eating. Thinning Bob.

What with the ship rocking and rolling, Linda had to assume the brace position to brush her teeth this morning.

Kimberly is sort of scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to her morning interviews. Today it was the guest services team, whatever that means. Maybe I should have attended to learn the answer.

Japan has over 6800 islands, this looks like it might be three of them.

It was definitely rough out there today.

Did you know there were many different types of ramen? Here's five of them.

Ramen is serious business and there is a real art to making it just right in Japan. Dried crinkly noodles with a flavor pouch it is not.

A lesson on how to order your ramen from a vending machine.

Before he gave his presentation on ramen, he gave a demonstration of the nose flute. Never knew there was such a thing which is played by blowing air out your nose, hence its name. I just caught the last few seconds of his playing but gives an idea of what it sounds like. The tune he played was Moon River.

Kimberly giving a great presentation on the history of Holland America Line.

It's been around for over 150 years. and has reinvented itself a number of times over that century and a half.

Then it was the CEO of Holland America to give a presentation.

Most of what he talked about was corporate speak he read from a screen in front of him.

For some reason he thought he needed to use a slide showing the revised route due to the conflict in the Middle East.

I'll just say, Steve Jobs he ain't and leave it at that.

The World Voyage for 2026. Optimism reigns that the Suez Canal. There was also a question and answer session that was more petty peeves from disgruntled passengers than anything else. One thing he should do is the see that the person in charge of the lighting was fired as the lights shone in his eyes and he couldn't see many of the questioners. to even recognize them so they could ask their inane questions.
