Around the World in 128 Days - Arrival at Ft. Lauderdale and back home again
The Cruise is Over - May 11, 2024 - 5,904 Steps
It was over months ago we walked out to this same spot shortly after we boarded the ship. Then it was a glorious and joyous afternoon, today it was a glorious but sad morning.
Instead of watching to see if could recognize our luggage being loaded aboard the Zuiderdam, it was watching to see if we could spot it being off loaded.
The lineup of trucks bringing provisions for the next sailing that would be leaving a few hours.
Trucks were lined up in the far distance awaiting their turn to unload.
Port Everglades is a very busy cruise ship terminal.
There was a staggering amount of food to be loaded onto the ship.
A pallet of apples.
A last look at the old home place that served us so well for the past mounts.
Literally shutting the door on one of the most awesome adventures we have ever been on. But the fall of next year we will be opening the door on an another one.
We patiently waited for our group, Gray 1, to be called.
The luggage for each group was in its own section.
It proved easy to find our bag. And with this, here ended our Around the World in 128 Days trip. Well, not really. we still had to travel back to Texas, but two easy flights got us there some 12 hours later where a half hours work had the RV cooled down and the water hooked up. I know these last three posts have been a long time coming, but it just wasn't something I felt compelled to get around to doing. There will be another post in a few days with some observations regarding the experience, then it will be time to start posting on a new blog for our normal RV life and travels in Sophie as this one is for our overseas trips, no pun intended. Bad Bob.
Hey Bad Bob, loved the story of your cruise. Don't think I could do one that long. So let's hear about Sophie & your travels; I've been following your blogs for years and look forward to more exciting stuff! Take care! (I'm don34685@yahoo.com and http://tampabaystuff.blogspot.com/ if you are interested. Didn't bother changing the blog name when we moved to Nevada; only had 4 or 5 readers!)
