Around the World in 128 Days - Malé, Maldives Day 2 Discovering the Yellow Submarine Didn't Go Far

 Travel Day 88 - March 31, 2024 - 6,531 Steps

Today we decided that rather than go ashore and bask in the 90+ temperatures and the 80+ humidity, we stay aboard the ship and literally chill out. Then looking out from the verandah Linda saw the base where the sub we went on yesterday was docked and what follows is what we saw.

The base where the sub is docked on the left and the boat that took us out and back from shore on the right.

The sub heading out for a dive starts to appear.

Sub in full view.

Sub disappearing below the waves.

Gone.

Now the transfer boat is off to the left of the base. Yesterday the only times we saw it or were aboard it it was pushed up against the base. So why is it some distance away we were asking ourselves.

Then came the answer. We looked up what the white and blue flag meant . It meant divers below, meaning the transfer boat was marking the location of the sub so the heavy boat traffic in the area would stay away.

Busy at work keeping the other boats at a distance.

And up the sub comes.

Three in a row.

As the sub came closer to the base the transfer boat moved behind it. We took some video of what was happening, which is posted below.

There was even an Easter egg hunt onboard the ship, not that my wonderful lemony dessert had anything to do with it.

Latest book to have been read. Started out with a bang, ended with a whimper. Another case of, it would have made a good short story, stretched out it was blah.

The light circle will someday be an atoll.

The beauty of nature.

Dock? Who needs a dock to transfer containers onto a ship.

A large piece of debris.

Sailing away from a speck in the ocean.

Our wake was a gentle curve as we headed out to the open sea.

Doesn't seem real, but it was. Sunset reflected on a massive white cloud with storm clouds at a lower altitude.

We had to ask our room stewards what it was. The answer, it is a Macaw. (Not sure our imagination can encompass that!)
