Around the World in 128 Days - Malé, Maldives Day 1 Aboard a Yellow Submarine

 Travel Day 87 - March 30, 2024 - 5,838 Steps

There are quite a few videos in today's post because it quickly became apparent that videos would tell the story of what our submarine experience was like much better than photos.

Every morning is awesome, but some are awesomer than others.

The Maldives are home to the small ships designed for small islands.

It ain't nice atall out thar. Or maybe I should say it is soakingly hot out there.

With thoughts of Titan in mind, we took this photo while transferring on a tender to the dock with the next step, transferring to the submarine for what might be our last great adventure.

A long bird. Long bill, long body, long legs.

Black perching bird.

There were forty of us headed to the sub.

Our undersea home.

Will I ever see her again? Yes, in about a minute when I'm seated beside her.

I had thought about what it would be like in the sub and decided that that taking my Nikon camera was very likely a bad idea. I was proved right when this person took a couple of photos with this camera, then put it away and used his cell phone to photograph everything the entire trip. Smart Bob. My GoPro was the perfect camera for the trip along with our Sony compact cameras.

Interior shot.

Fish!

Lots of fish.

And also eels.

The only photo Linda took of me entering or exiting the sub. At least I think it might possibly be of me.

Linda had bought but never used her personal fan. Today made her into a total believer in those mighty wonders of personal heat relief.

Water taxi's racing to the dock.

Another great Dive In meal. Under that cheese is a mini mountain of jalapenos. Happy Bob.

Happy Linda when she was eating her dessert tonight.
