Around the World in 128 Days - At Sea Towards Cape Town

Travel Day 104 - April 16, 2024 - 7,923 Steps

At end of today's images are the videos from the 15th showing the Zulu celebration,  the harbor pilot being literally picked up plus  crocodiles and a tortoise.

The pastry chefs were Kim's interview subjects. One take away, when baking you always follow the recipe exactly including the baking temperature and time. They want the 1000 cookies they bake every night to all be the same for example.

Can you guess our muster station number?

Big smiles all around since it was just a drill. We were told we were the first Holland America Line ship to actually hold a full muster drill in a number of years .years with all passengers required report to their muster station.

Nothing like a little video to show what the muster drill was all about and why it needs be done.

We passed by one of the galley's on the way to our station.

Back in the room we had to view a safety video before the TV would once again work normally.

Another day, another book. Great read as are all Reacher books.

What is Linda doing? She's keeping the sun out her eyes. It was nice of her slave husband to return to the cabin and bring her a hat to wear.

Special African foods were the order of the day at dinner tonight.

Something that goes along way to show just how special our captain is. He was walking by and notice the person was having a hard time moving the fully loaded cart, so he grabbed ahold of the front and helped her. I was just lucky to be there at the same time.

A story plays out before us.

Showing a few moves as an encore.

They did move at least a little bit.

Pilot being snatched from the ship due to rough seas.
